Prime Rate

Business / Real Estate / Prime Rate: The minimum interest rate a commerical bank will charge to its largest clients. Prime rates are determined in part by the rate the bank pays for the money they lend to borrowers. Decisions of the Federal Reserve Bank (The Fed) to increase or decrease the supply of money can cause the prime rate that banks charge to fluctuate.
