Mitosis

Science / Biology / Mitosis: The division of the cells nucleus and nuclear material of a cell; consists of four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Cell xeroxing. Mitosis occurs only in eukaryotes. The DNA of the cell is replicated during interphase of the cell cycle and then segregated during the four phases of mitosis.

Isochromosome

Science / Genetics / Isochromosome: A metacentric chromosome produced during mitosis or meiosis when the centromere splits transversely instead of longitudinally: the arms of such chromosome are equal in length and genetically identical MORE

Aster

Science / Biology / Aster: Short fibers produced by cells during mitosis and meiosis. These radiate from the centriole (if it is present). MORE

Interphase

Science / Biology / Interphase: The period between cell divisions when growth and replacement occur in preparation for the next division; consists of gap 1 (G1), synthesis (S), and gap 2 (G2). MORE
