Tidal Constants

Science / Tides and Currents / Tidal Constants: Tidal relations that remain practically constant for any particular locality. Tidal constants are classified as harmonic and non-harmonic. The harmonic constants consist of the amplitudes and epochs of the harmonic constituents, and the non-harmonic constants include the ranges and intervals derived directly from the high and low water observations.

Non-Harmonic Constants

Science / Tides and Currents / Non-Harmonic Constants: Tidal constants such as lunitidal intervals, ranges, and inequalities which may be derived directly from high and low water observations without regard to the harmonic constituents of the tide. Also a MORE

Tidal Current

Science / Geology / Tidal Current: A horizontal displacement of ocean water under the gravitational influence of Sun and Moon, causing the water to pile up against the coast at high tide and move outward at low tide. MORE
