Potentiometer

Technology / Programming / Potentiometer: A potentiometer is a resistor that is usually controlled directly by the user, allowing the amount of voltage that it resists to be set by a dial or other physical control. This is commonly used in knobs and dials.

L-Pad

Technology / Home Audio / L-Pad: A low resistance (commonly 8 ohms) potentiometer used primarily to control the input delivered to a speaker. A remote site volume control. MORE

Pan Pot

Technology / Home Audio / Pan Pot: Short for panoramic potentiometer, this is a knob controlling a voltage divider that can send a signal to a combination of two busses, such as left and right. Always found on mixing consoles to set up MORE

Vcf (Voltage Controlled Filter)

Technology / Home Audio / Vcf (Voltage Controlled Filter): An audio filter whose effective frequency band is controlled by varying its voltage rather than with a potentiometer. MORE

Vca (Voltage Controlled Amplifier)

Technology / Home Audio / Vca (Voltage Controlled Amplifier): An amplifier whose output is controlled by varying its voltage rather than by direct resistance (as with a potentiometer). MORE

Vco (Voltage Controlled Oscillator)

Technology / Home Audio / Vco (Voltage Controlled Oscillator): An oscillator whose frequency output is controlled by varying its voltage rather than with a potentiometer. MORE
